One of the Gambia Rush club's soccer exports to the United States, Kekuta Manneh, has been rated as the leading light in ongoing good run of The Texas Rush USSF Development Academy, as they entered their third season in the prestigious Development Academy. After four games, the Gambian inspired Texas Rush to nearing the top of the standings.
According to a release from the Texas Rush club president available to Gamsports.com, though much of that early success can be contributed to good team chemistry, proper fitness, and quality talent that Texas Rush produces, coaches have attributed some of the team’s success to the arrival of Kekuta Manneh.
''Since arriving, Kekuta has raised the bar both at training and during games. “Kekuta’s training habits and cheerful personality help create a fun but serious environment throughout the week and has been contagious with the other players on the team,” says Texas Rush Academy head coach Don Gemmell.
It took the Gambian just short time of settling down before he began showing his great potentials to make an impact on the USSF Development Academy stage. In his first game, against Classics Elite, Kekuta notched two goals and assisted on a third one. His day didn’t end there, he capped off his initial performance by scoring a third goal late in the game.
“The Rush organization has done a fantastic job of establishing clubs overseas, and giving individuals like Kekuta a place to showcase his talents,” states Gemmell. Parents, players, and coaches from within the Texas Rush club were looking forward to Kekuta’s home debut on September 19th. Once again, Kekuta didn’t disappoint the crowd. Despite playing with a lower back injury, Kekuta impressed the crowd with two goals of his own in a 3-2 loss.
“Kekuta is very deceptive with the ball, and has the ability to change pace, both of which make him very dangerous to defenders throughout a game,” mentions Gemmell.
After only playing in two games due to injury, Kekuta still finds himself second in the nation in scoring. Texas Rush is very excited to have him back in the line-up as they return to Academy action this upcoming weekend against Solar Chelsea FC. On learning news of Kekuta's great exploits, the Technical Director of Rush Africa, Omar Sise expressed delight and joy.'' Am very proud of Kekuta and all our Gambia Rush boys in America. They have made us proud and live the dream and concept of Rush as global brand for soccer development'' |
